Brian Michael Bendis announced at E3 that Powers is now in production for the Playstation Network.

Details have been scarce, but we now have more confirmation that Powersis coming to TV...and soon. During Sony's E3 presentation, Powers co-creator Brian Michael Bendis came out to let fans know that yes, the PowersTV series is in production, "casting is underway," and he had the concept art to prove it.

If you've never read the Powerscomics by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, do so. It's as close as superhero comics are likely to come to the feel and flavor of high-quality cable dramas, and it can be enjoyed by comic and non-comic fans alike. The basic concept, about two detectives who deal with the fallout of superpowered crimes, may seem a little obvious, but between Bendis' lively (and often profane) dialogue and Michael Avon Oeming's wonderful art, the series is a real treat.

Watch the video here. Mr. Bendis shows up at about 1:55.

This version of Powershas nothing to do with the  Powerspilot that was shot for FX back in 2011 that starred Jason Patric as Christian Walker and Lucy Punch as Deena Pilgrim. The last we had heard, Powerswould arrive on PSN as a 10 episode animated series, but that doesn't seem to be clear from Mr. Bendis' remarks. We'll assume that still holds true.

Mr. Bendis will serve as executive producer along with Remi Aubuchon (Falling Skies) and Circle of Confusion's David Engel. Charlie Huston is acting as showrunner. Powersshould arrive on the Playstation Network in December. The first episode will be free on PSN, but the rest will only be available to Playstation Plus subscribers.
