"Everything is still on the table" for the Spider-Man universe, as Alex Kurtzman confirms he's still on board the Venom film...

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Roberto Orci had dropped out of scripting The Amazing Spider-Man 3, in the process hinting that things were up in the air a little on Sony's plans for a Spider-Man movie universe. The original plan was for The Amazing Spider-Man 3in 2016 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4 in 2018, but at the very least, the latter won't be happening then. For Sony has got Drew Goddard attached to a Sinister Six spin-off movie, and Alex Kurtzman had been tapped to write and direct Venom.

So what's going on, and does the plan still hold, given that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 didn't do quite the level of numbers Sony would have wanted? "Everybody is still figuring it out. It's all up for grabs right now", Kurtzman told IGNin a new interview.

Admitting that "I wouldn't rule anything out" at the possibility of a Black Cat movie for a start, he admitted that Venomis still set to come out after Sinister Six, and that he is indeed still attached to the project.

"Everything is still on the table", he said, although the vague nature of his answers suggests that there might be some serious rethinking going on at Sony towers. There's little doubt that more Spider-Man films are coming, but there's also a sense that Sony realises a few things have to change for its universe dream to be realised here.

There are only two things I have problems with. Too many characters and too many villians. Just put one villian or two villians in each movie and limit how many characters you have you will be fine. I mean for crying out loud you have one of the most popular comic book characters in the world. You don't need to make this big universe shit. Just have fun and make Spider-Man movies. The castings are great but you just are throwing in too many characters. You will be fine if you don't try copying marvel because either way with the right villians in it and the right plot you will make a good amount of money.
