Marvel unveiled three new Star Wars comic book series at SDCC 2014!

Marvel announced three new Star Wars comic book series at SDCC 2014 today. From January to March, the publisher will launch each series, which will veteran creative teams.

The first of these titles is Star Wars -- a series that will take place after the end of A New Hope and before The Empire Strikes Back. It will see Luke, Han, and Leia continue their battle against a weakened Empire out for vengeance. Darth Vader isn't too happy, either. This series will be written by Jason Aaron (Wolverine) and John Cassaday (Planetary).

Star Wars will be followed in February by Darth Vader. From creative team Kieron Gillen (Phonogram) and Salvador Larroca (X-Men), this title will also take place between Episodes IVand V, and will feature the Dark Lord of the Sith, as he tries to regain control of the Empire after the destruction of the Death Star.

Finally, Princess Leia will round out the trio. What will probably be the most "space opera" of the three titles, Leia is all about the Princess coming to terms with the fact that she no longer has a home planet, while she also continues to stick it to the Empire. Woe is Princess Leia. Mark Waid (Kingdom Come) and Terry Dodson (Uncanny X-Men) will be the guys in charge of putting the awesome into this series.

All three titles will focus on the Original Trilogy era, leaving behind the days of the Old Republic, New Republic, and the Legacy era. It looks like Disney and Marvel are all about the movie universe now. Who can complain, though, when they put so much muscle in the new Star Wars titles?

Here are three pieces of art work, one for each series, respectively:
