What's this? Even more DC superheroes coming to Arrow season 3? Oh, alright...
Well, we know that Kate Spencer won't be Manhunter in the Arrow-verse, so it's time to introduce the character through other means. That was a bit of Arrowseason two humor, for you. Maybe it didn't work.
Anyway, David Cubitt (Medium) has been cast as Mark Shaw/Manhunter for Arrow season three. He will appear in the third episode of the season, entitled "Corto Maltese." Yes, that would be the same fictional nation that causes such a stir in The Dark Knight Returns. Why should Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice have all the DKR related fun? The Hollywood Reporter describes Shaw as "an A.R.G.U.S. operative in Corto Maltese who crosses paths with Diggle."
Now, here's the thing. There have been plenty of folks to use the name Manhunter in the DC Universe, but "Mark Shaw" had a bit more of a sci-fi connection than we usually associate with Arrow. In fact, that version of the character has ties to the Manhunters initially created by the Guardians (not the Marvel kind...the Green Lantern kind) to patrol the universe. We've already seen a Ferris Air easter egg in trailers for The Flash. Who knows what the future may hold? I might not hold my breath for the red suit, though.
In other Arrowcasting news, Charlotte Ross (NYPD Blue) will show up, likely in flashback, as Felicity Smoak's mother. Our best guess is that it will be for the season 5 episode, "Oracle" which will deal with Felicity's backstory.
