Jason Momoa will play Aquaman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Justice League movie. We mean it this time.
UPDATED: 10:22 pm - Despite my best efforts, sometimes I get caught up in the internet and don't read as closely as I should. Despite the fact that somehow the Varietystory that's the source of all of this popped up all over our feeds TODAY, it's actually the same story that they ran in mid-June. So, in other words, there has been no additional confirmation that Jason Momoa is Aquaman, even though we all know that it is, in fact, true.
I should be more careful, and I apologize.
However, for some ACTUAL brand new Aquamanmovie news, I'd like to direct your attention to this OTHER story, detailing Warner Bros. hiring writers to develop an Aquaman solo film.
ORIGINAL STORY
There's only so many ways we can report the same story, but it's a slow day and we need to keep the lights on. Jason Momoa has been confirmed as Aquaman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Justice League movie, and anything else Warner Bros. feels like putting him in. After all, they just released a schedule that reaches until 2020, so maybe, just maybe, there's an Aquaman solo movie in there. Don't hold your breath, though.
This latest confirmation comes not exactly hot on the heels of the first reports which surfaced almost a year ago, and then additional confirmation which came back in June. Maybe Varietywas sitting on today's confirmation for a rainy day. We do hope it worked. Maybe they were spooked by Zack Snyder's impassioned defense of Aquaman on a radio call-in show last week. Probably not.
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Jason Momoa (in case you missed that part), Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and a bunch of other folks that Warner Bros. won't tell us who they're playing. It comes out on March 25th, 2016. Expect lots more secrecy games and repetition before then.
