The quirky lawyer adventures of She-Hulk have been cancelled. January will give us the final issue of the Charles Soule/Javier Pulido joint.

It seems the Hulks just can’t catch a break. Recently, the main Hulk has been going around depowering the other gamma-irradiated characters, curing the likes of A-Bomb and Skaar against their will while Red She-Hulk and Red Hulk are next on the agenda. His cure comes from his own blood, meaning it won’t work on himself and theoretically wouldn’t work on She-Hulk either. You’d think that would be good news for Jennifer Walters.

Not so much, as it appears her ongoing series, She-Hulk with no adjectives, is going to be cancelled as of issue #12. The comic has been one of the many projects by writer Charles Soule, who will likely be able to get an extra couple hours of sleep with one less book on his plate. Javier Pulido, the main artist on the book, will be drawing the final issue.

She-Hulk, fittingly, started strong. Soule himself is a practicing lawyer, so it was pretty perfect tossing him into a series about a radioactive lawyer who fights robots all the time (though she claims only 10% of the time). Through the series, She-Hulk’s legal escapades have brought in the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Daredevil, and Dr. Doom. The main storyline has been about investigating a mysterious, forgotten “Blue File” case that relates to herself and various heroes and villains, only nobody has any memory of. When somebody involved hears it brought up, they go full-on Manchurian Candidateand try to kill whoever's asking the questions.

After the first issue, She-Hulk sadly fell down into the high 20,000s in terms of sales and gradually lowered down by the month. Unfortunately, that’s about the area where Marvel considers cutting comics. It certainly didn’t help when Ron Wimberly briefly took over the art duties for a couple issues and drastically changed the style, turning off readers. Despite Soule’s charming writing, the series simply couldn’t catch on and couldn't bring back any of its lost audience.

She-Hulk #12, the final issue, will be released in January. According to the solicitation, it will finish up the “Blue Files” storyline while bringing us a new status quo for the character. Could this lead to a new series with her in it, whether it’s a revamped solo run or putting her into a team? We'll find out in the coming months, I suppose.

We’ll also be saying goodbye to All-New Ultimates and All-New X-Factor in January. Both series have performed under even She-Hulk’s sales, so it’s not especially surprising.
