Is Jared Leto playing The Joker in DC's Suicide Squad movie? The question has been put to the man himself...
A rumour that was gathering pace last month was that in David Ayer's film of DC Comics'Suicide Squad, we'd be seeing a big screen return for the Joker. The role hasn't been touched in cinema since the late Heath Ledger's memorable Oscar-winning take on it in The Dark Knight, and it's understandable following that portrayal that it'd take a while before anyone else took it on.
Suicide Squad is going to be landing in cinemas in 2016, and is expected, then, to bring the Joker back, with whoever takes on the role presumably signing up for the requisite multiple movies that a commitment to a major comic book movie character now demands.
The name that has been most loudly linked with The Joker? That'd be Oscar winner Jared Leto, who took home Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club at this year's ceremony. And he's now been asked directly, by The Hollywood Reporter, whether he is indeed on board to play the Joker.
His simple answer: "I've sworn to keep my mouth shut."
Sworn to who, though? And, well, it's not a no, is it?
