It looks like the DC TV Universe is getting bigger on the CW, with news of an Atom spinoff and a Vixen animated series.
NewsMark Pedowitz, speaking at the Television Critics Association, remarked on plans to expand with even more DC Comics themed programming. When asked about the possibility of an Atomspinoff starring Brandon Routh, Arrowexecutive producer Greg Berlanti said that the network is in "very early talks on a very general idea that we haven't gone deeper on yet." That's just the beginning, though.
Vixen is going to join Arrowand The Flash on the CW this Fall...just not in the way we might have expected. The former Suicide Squad and occasional Justice League member is getting an animated series on CW Seed, the network's home for digital only series. Vixen (Mari Jiwe McCabe) has the ability to mimic animal powers, and her Suicide Squad background should make for an easy introduction into the Arrow-verse.
So far this is all we have, and we admit it isn't much. But it's also a neat look at what Oliver and Barry look like in animation.

While it's nice to see Vixen start to get some love in other media, it would be even better if she stepped right up to join the big boys in live-action on their respective TV shows, which are bound to get far more viewers than anything on CW Seed. Still, this is the first indication that the DC Universe of The Flash and Arrowcan expand into other formats, never mind other shows. With word out that CBS'Supergirlmight also cross over with these shows, and the fact that nobody is quite ready to rule out the upcoming Titanslive-action series as part of this world, things are looking more and more expansive in the CW's world.
