A big team-up event featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy and the X-Men is on its way and we have a whole lot of art to show you!
PreviewThe X-Men side of the Marvel Universe has had its share of branching out into the cosmic side recently. Last year, the Trial of Jean Greystoryline brought the X-Men and the Guardians of the Galaxy together, creating a long-distance romantic relationship between Kitty Pryde and Peter Quill. Then you have the time-displaced teenaged Cyclops, who has his own adventures with his father Corsair in space. Now everyone’s getting back together for The Black Vortex, a big X-Men/Guardians crossover with some Nova tossed in there for flavor.
While the crossover will spread through such titles as Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians Team-Up, Legendary Star-Lord, Captain Marvel, All-New X-Men, Cyclops, and Nova, it all begins with the issue Guardians of the Galaxy & X-Men: The Black Vortex Alpha by Sam Humphries, Ed McGuinness, and Kris Anka. The Black Vortex itself is yet another powerful space artifact, this time targeted by the likes of Mr. Knife (the villain from Star-Lord’s solo series) and Thane, son of Thanos. Thane hasn’t really done anything since being introduced in Infinity, so this should be interesting.
Should be a fun superhero crossover with...wait. Where’s Venom? Where’s Guardians of the Galaxy member Venom? Why is he not mentioned in the press release or shown in any of the covers of pages?! Oh man. This doesn’t bode well.
Here, go look at these images while I have myself an episode.
