Fables: Jane Goldman Now Working On The Script

It's been some time now since it was revealed that Warner Bros is developing a film of the Vertigo Comics property, Fables. Back in June 2013, it was revealed that Harry Potter producer David Heyman was overseeing the project, and that Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) was set to direct.

As it turns out, the project remains an active one. Arcel is still on board to direct the film, but as producer Heyman has told Comic Book Resource, "Jane Goldman is working on a draft as we speak". Goldman previously co-penned screenplays for Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class and the incoming Kingsman: The Secret Service, amongst others.

Heyman revealed that Nikolaj Arcel had previously done a draft of the film, and that "now he's supervising Jane, who's doing a draft. Hopefully that'll come in and we'll be able to move to the next stage".

Heyman noted that "these things always take longer than you want. And Fables is not easy by any means, but I think it'll be pretty great".

Fablesfollows fairytale characters who have been evicted from their own world, and thus find themselves left to live in New York. A release date has not yet been earmarked by Warner Bros for this one yet, although as Neil Gaiman revealed last year, the full schedule for Vertigo-based movies - including Sandman - has not yet been announced.
