We're very sorry to hear about the passing of Incredible Hulk artist and first published Wolverine artist, Herb Trimpe.
NewsHerb Trimpe, the comic book artist whose work could be found all over Marvel during the Bronze Age, has passed away at the age of 75.
Mr. Trimpe was the artist on The Incredible Hulkfor a staggering seven year period, virtually defining the look of Hulk's world during what would prove to be the icon's most most popular decade. It was during this run that he first brough Wolverine to the world, a character whose popularity could never have been foretold at the time. Wolverine first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #180 (for one panel) and then squared off with Hulk in the pages of The Incredible Hulk#181, both featuring art by Mr. Trimpe.
Just in case Wolverine isn't enough of a pop-culture footprint, he also drew the first few issues of Marvel's GI Joe back in 1982, including that iconic first issue cover:

Mr. Trimpe also served as artist on The Defenders, a superhero team book which also featured Hulk. A Hulk-less Defenders is now the driving force behind Marvel's Netflix TV shows, which kicked off with Daredevil.
