Hey, Dark Knight Returns isn’t the only DC event that’s getting a third installment!

This fall, Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim will be doing a new special called Robot Chicken DC Comics Special III: Friendship is Magic. This special will be bringing in the eighth season of the stop-motion parody show. Awesomely enough, this new Robot Chicken special will feature Adam West and Burt Ward reprising their old Batman and Robin roles from 50 years ago.

While Robot Chicken has done plenty of DC Comics-based gags over the years, in 2012, they did a half-hour special dedicated to nothing but. It focused on Aquaman joining with the Legion of Doom after being sick of how the Justice League underappreciated him. A year ago, they did the second special, which was about the Legion of Doom having a beach party where everyone was attacked by Starro. Now we're getting an installment based on Superman and Batman's friendship falling apart. Funny timing, that.

The first special did give us one of my all-time favorite Robot Chicken gags where Solomon Grundy finds out something horrifying about his past...then immediately learns to accept it.

There’s no exact date on Robot Chicken DC Comics Special III: Friendship is Magic. Just sometime in the fall.

Robot Chicken is teaming up with DC Comics again for a third rendezvous with villains and heroes in the Robot Chicken DC Comics Special III: Friendship Is Magic. The special and season eight of the Emmy Award®-winning series will premiere this fall on Adult Swim.

The Robot Chicken DC Comics Special III: Friendship Is Magic surrenders DC Comics multitude of Super Heroes and Super-Villains to the demented whims of the award-winning Robot Chicken for a triumphant third time. This time around, Batman and Superman’s bromance takes a competitive turn and the fate of the universe somehow hangs in the balance! The all-star cast includes Seth Green, Matt Senreich, Breckin Meyer, Alfred Molina, Nathan Fillion, Weird Al Yankovic, Alex Borstein, Giovanni Ribisi, Jonathan Banks, Mae Whitman, Hugh Davidson, Dee Bradley Baker, Zeb Wells, Kevin Shinick, plus Adam West and Burt Ward.

Gavin Jasper could watch three hours of Bane sneaking up on Batman and shattering his spine again and again. It’s the best. Follow him on Twitter!
