Here's Your First Look At Archie #1

One of the most anticipated comics (if not the most) of the summer is the Archie relaunch from writer Mark Waid and artist Fiona Staples. Just in time for the ginger teen's 75th anniversary, the book will introduce a new generation to Riverdale and its often wacky residents.

Although it is drawing from Archie's long history, the way the new title is designed is as a starting point that, while respectful of what went before, is more interested in being contemporary than getting mired in the past. To that end, the company has enlisted the efforts of creators like Francesco Francavilla, Robert Hack, Tania del Rio, Ramon Perez, and Chip Zdarsky to create variant covers for the debut that further illustrate how exciting and vital these characters are.

We will have a full review next week, but as a taste of what's to come here is a look at some sample pages in which Archie explains where his love of music comes from being getting thrust into a situation that is, well, classically Archie-esque. Check it out:
