NewsDC's Legends of Tomorrowis the superhero team-up show spinning off of the wildly successful The Flash and Arrow. This time, though, we're going to have a realitty warping, time traveling twist to things.
We're rounding up all the information we can find on this exciting upcoming addition to the Arrowverse (that's a word, right?) in one place for you.
The Latest News
Legends of Tomorrowhas found it's big villain! Vandal Savage will be played by Casper Crump, who we'll also see in Warner Bros. 2016 live-action Tarzanmovie. Like all the new Legends of Tomorrowcharacters, Savage will first be introduced during this year's fall Flash/Arrowcrossover episodes, which will then set up the midseason arrival of the new series.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Story
Here's the official synopsis of DC's Legends of Tomorrow:
"When heroes alone are not enough ... the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?"
DC's Legends of Tomorrow Premiere Date
CW President Mark Pedowitz confirmed that Legends of Tomorrow will have a 13 episode order (although we're now hearing it will be 16 episodes) and it will kick off at midseason. With Flashand Arrowairing on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, and Monday already crowded with superheroes on other networks with Supergirland Gotham, we might see Legends of Tomorrow take over The Vampire Diaries' Thursday at 8 pm slot.
Regardless, we expect it in January until we hear otherwise.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow Cast
Some of the cast for the show has already been announced, and then for some of the others all we have are some character descriptions. Brandon Routh (as the Atom) will lead a new superhero team on the CW, which will also include Caity Lotz (Black Canary), Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave), and Victor Garber (half of Firestorm).
We all saw Sara Lance die in Arrow season three. We also all saw the Lazarus Pit work its dark magic on folks...and we know that it isn't always the best thing for you mentally.
White Canary is a character we don't know all that much about, which leaves the show plenty of room to make some changes as necessary. Caity Lotz commented a little bit on these:
"We want to make it different, there's going to be changes. She's still Sara Lance but there has to be repercussions for everything that she's been through, so I'm hoping we really get to play with that stuff...I would think that it's going to have a toll. Just like Thea went into the Lazarus Pit and we saw how it affected her, and Sara was dead for a long time so I feel like there's going to be a big shift."
That sounds about right.
Ciara Renee (Broadway productions of Big Fish and the current Pippin revival) will play Kendra Saunders, but we'd like to call her Hawkgirl. Meanwhile, Doctor Who alum Arthur Darville will play the time traveling Rip Hunter. No word yet on who will play series villain Vandal Savage.
When character descriptions for the show first surfaced, one was listed as "female warrior" described as:
"This twenty-something Latina is pretty but unassuming, book smart and socially awkward by day. But by night, when she hears the cry of battle, her fury is ignited and she becomes a fierce warrior — so much so, that sometimes she can become a threat to others."
Deadline elaborates on this:
"Saunders is a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker Hawkgirl."
At the time, we assumed this would be Fury, Vixen, or even the Yolanda Montez version of Wildcat. Whoops. Hawkgirl is a much cooler option, anyway.
As expected, that awfully thin rumor out there about a Hawkgirl solo series in the works was nonsense. Ciare Renee took care of that...

Ciara Renee has yet to have a recurring television role (although she does have quite a stage resume'), and Legends of Tomorrow doesn't even start filming until August. It's tough to imagine a situation where cautious TV execs would greenlight a series (not even a pilot!) headlined by someone so inexperienced before a single frame of actual footage has been shot. By comparison, even Grant Gustin (who, compared to Ms. Renee, was a TV veteran thanks to Glee) as The Flash needed two episodes and a pilot before things were locked up for that series, while it took nearly half a season of Brandon Routh as The Atom on Arrow before word started to surface about his potential spinoff.
Still, of all the new characters being introduced on Legends of Tomorrow, Hawkgirl is likely the highest profile, with a long comic book history and having been a charter member of the Justice League in the excellent animated series. The fact that these CW DC shows all love to introduce characters for potential spinoffs means that someone is liable to be eyed for a jump at some point.

And where goes Hawkgirl, there must also be Hawkman! Falk Hentschel will play the reincarnated superhero. We have all the details on Hawkman appearing on all three of our favorite CW superhero shows right here.
As for Rip Hunter, we first became aware of his existence thanks to this little casting description:
“THE TRAVELLER” | A Han Solo-esque rogue who gets by with his charm, this hero hails from the future, and has journeyed back in time on a secret mission. His razor-sharp wit hides the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. He also harbours many secrets, always leaving both his teammates and the audience unsure of his true allegiances.
The Wrap offers some more details, though, calling Hunter "a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit."

We were holding out hope this would end up being Booster Gold, but I have to figure that where Rip Hunter goes, Booster Gold can't be too far behind.
Franz Drameh (Attack the Block) will play "Jay Jackson."
"Jay Jackson" sounds like a bogus name to us, and it doesn't turn up any immediate DC Comics connections. Anyway, here's the official word on him:
"Jay Jackson, a former high school athlete, whose pro-career was derailed by injury. Now making ends meets as an auto mechanic, Jay will come to have a surprising affiliation to the S.T.A.R. Labs crew."
I presume this is still "mystery hero" from the initial casting breakdowns:
“MYSTERY HERO” | An African-American male in his twenties will fill the role of a regular, street smart guy who unexpectedly gains powers, and then, as part of the team, regularly quips about the insanity of the situations."
"Mystery Hero" is tougher to judge, as there's no power set listed. Cyborg is already tied up with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Justice League movies, and there's a chance we'll meet him on that Titans TV series down the line, too.
Static is a character that Warner Bros. loves to play with, although he's currently in line for a live-action web series of his own. Perhaps this will be used to help launch that? Unless this is a brand new character created just for the show, but something tells me it isn't.
Victor Garber, who plays Martin Stein (half of Firestorm) on Legends of Tomorrow told The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Robbie Amell will not play Ronnie Raymond as Firestorm's other half on the series, but he may make a guest appearance. Instead, Amell will show up on The Flash season 2 premiere.
The Rest
Phil Klemmer (The Tomorrow People) has been named as executive producer and showrunner of DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Thanks to Deadline for the tip.
Executive producer Greg Berlanti is likening the tone of the show to some important cinematic touchstones. "I compare the shows to old Westerns; we have a lot of lone gunmen and sheriffs in town, and this one is very much an ode to things like The Magnificent Seven or those great heist pics like Ocean’s Eleven where you get all of those colors at the same time, and a true ensemble, and that was the fun of it...you want that Rat Pack-y kind of vibe of all this crew hanging out, as disparate and as different as they are.”
