Plus Robbie reveals which superhero she came close to playing...

Shooting has now wrapped on David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and he’s now got just under a year to lock down his cut of the film. It’s the second DC movie universe release for 2016, and most of the headlines surrounding it have focused on Jared Leto’s take on The Joker.

Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn in the movie, has been chatting about Leto’s work too. “What he’s doing with the character is so cool," she said. “At first it was kind of confronting (to be up close) but now I’m so used to it. I think if I ever saw him out of makeup now I would be really confused."

Robbie added, "Actually, I saw him out of makeup once and I was actually petrified of him."

Turning to what makes Suicide Squad different from the rest of the comic book fare out there, Robbie explained, “I guess the one common denominator is we’re all bad guys, it just makes everything more fun that way. The scenes are more interesting, I felt, when you just don’t know how the characters are going to react, especially with Harley, who’s absolutely nuts."

It turns out that Robbie came reasonably close to landing a full-fledged superhero role: Sue Storm in Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four. “I had a great meeting with the director," she confirmed, "And I really enjoyed that. I guess it’s part of the game: sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose some." (We're guessing that Robbie won by avoiding that disaster.)

Suicide Squad arrives in theaters in August 2016. The full interview with Margot Robbie can be found here.
