Fantastic Four could have used a Stan Lee cameo, for starters.

News

With a worldwide box office take only just approaching $150 million, it's fair to say that Fox's reboot of Fantastic Four didn't go to plan. You probably know the story by now, with director Josh Trank suggesting that he had a far better film on his hands a year earlier, and critics savaging the movie. In terms of what Fox needed it to do, the project has been a failure, one that needs a hefty infusion of cash when it comes to DVD, Blu-ray and VOD to turn things around.

Stan Lee, the co-creator of Marvel's First Family, is credited as executive producer on the film, but it's clearly a ceremonial title. Chatting to Larry King, Lee was asked why he felt the film hadn't worked. "It was probably because I didn't have a cameo in it," Lee joked, adding, "They didn't discuss the story with me." He then revealed, "I haven't seen it yet, so I really can't comment on it." When King suggested that some people feel such franchises are rebooted too quickly, Lee conceded, "That may be true."
