What seems like ages ago, Marvel was developing Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos' Alias for television. The show, which was to be titled AKA Jessica Jones (as there was already a popular show known as Alias at the time) was being brought to TV by Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg. aka Jessica Jones seemed to come fairly close to production before the plug was pulled...close enough that Marvel has once again tapped Rosenberg to bring Jessica Jones to TV, this time as part of Marvel's massive Netflix deal, which also includes Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.
Since Netflix probably allows a little more leeway with certain matters than ABC TV (the original intended home of AKA Jessica Jones), we may expect something a little closer to the foul-mouthed, chain-smoking roots of the Alias comic. Melissa Rosenberg's involvement with the new Jessica Jones series comes on the heels of strong rumors that Lost (and, coincidentally, Alias) writer and producer Drew Goddard will be stewarding the Daredevil series.
