Edgar Wright will direct Johnny Depp in a live action/animation hybrid based on a Neil Gaiman book.
NewsEarly talks are underway for Edgar Wright to direct Johnny Depp in an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's children's book, Fortunately, the Milk, with a script by Flight Of The Conchords’ Bret McKenzie.
The book is about a dad left alone with the kids, who nips out to buy some milk and ends up embroiled in an adventure consisting of time travel, dinosaurs, aliens and much more. Or, at least, that’s what he tells the kids when he eventually arrives home.
Depp is on board to produce as well as star, and presumably he’ll play the dad. The package went out to studios last week and has been picked up by 20th Century Fox, with the idea being to blend live action with animation to bring the fantastical story to life.
Wright is already in pre-production for his next film,Baby Driver, so it’s unclear exactly when this one would go in front of cameras. With this collection of talent involved, though, we’d expect balls to start rolling as soon as possible.
