The mysterious Iron Fist Netflix series has chosen its showrunner. Here's what else we know...

Den Of Geek

There had been some unfortunate rumors recently that Marvel's Iron Fist Netflix series was in some kind of danger, and might even get replaced by a Punisher Netflix series. The speculation was that The Punisherwould fill Iron Fist's slot as the fourth and final Marvel Netflix series before The Defenders would bring everyone together, while Iron Fist would end up as a movie instead.

Well, that's not true.

Marvel has taken the first step towards production on this one by choosing Scott Buck (whose credits include Dexterand Six Feet Under) as showrunner.

“I’ve always been drawn to writing complex, intriguing characters, and that’s what most excites me about the opportunity to bring Danny Rand and Iron Fist to life with Marvel on Netflix,” said Buck in a statement.

Iron Fist Netflix Series Story

Here's the official synopsis:

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

In the meantime, we've seen several hints of things that could very well tie into Iron Fiston Daredevilseason one and Jessica Jones. Perhaps most significantly, Carrie-Anne Moss played Jeri Hogarth on Jessica Jones, and that's a character who ends up having serious ties to Danny Rand, the man who will be Iron Fist. Daredevilseason one gave us hints about K'un-Lun, the mystical martial arts kingdom where Danny's powers stem from, and Iron Fist arch-enemy Steel Serpent's logo appeared on packets of heroin on that show.
