Captain America: Civil War Cast and New Characters
So that team of "New Avengers" we met at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron will go right into action in this one. In addition to the obvious returns of Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., Captain America: Civil War will also feature Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine, and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.
While it hasn't been officially announced yet, it looks more and more like Mark Ruffalo will show up as Bruce Banner in the movie. No word on his big, green alter ego yet, though. As of now, the official word seems to be that Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury won't be in the movie, but that sounds a little hard to believe, doesn't it?
Perhaps not surprising is that Paul Rudd will join the team as Ant-Man. The film will introduce Chadwick Boseman as potential future Avenger T’Challa/Black Panther.
Most exciting of all is the presence of Spider-Man, who will finally be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man, although he probably doesn't have a very large role. It sounds like we might get to see the evolution of the Spider-Man costume in this, though.
Emily VanCamp is back as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, as well as Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones, and William Hurt as Hulk foe General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.
Martin Freeman is here in a still undisclosed role. Freeman has been playing the character off as a bit of a wild card. "He works for the American government...in conjunction with the superheroes, and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes’ power, I suppose. So you’re not quite sure which side he’s on. It looks a little bit like he’s playing one game when actually he’s playing another."
As for the villains, Daniel Bruhl will play Baron Helmut Zemo, and Frank Grillo returns as Crossbones.
Captain America: Civil War Story
We'll start with the official synopsis from Marvel:
Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
Presumably, that villain is Daniel Bruhl's Baron Zemo, but we'll know more soon enough. In the meantime, Mr. Bruhl promises that Zemo will probably be significantly different from his comic book version.

While chatting with We Got This Covered, Sebastian Stan took a moment to give his thoughts about whether he's interested in ever seeing Bucky become the good Captain himself (you can probably guess that answer), as well as what fans can expect from his next Marvel outing in Captain America: Civil War.
First on the count of whether he'd like to don the red, white, and blue himself, Stan sarcastically said, "No, I really wouldn't, let me tell you, I think about that every day." After a laugh, Stan added, "It's so not up to me, and to be honest, I really enjoy my job over there. I'm really happy going to work and doing what I do. I love the character that I have. It's up to a lot of different things, and whatever Marvel decides, I'm game."
However, on the subject of what fans can expect in the immediate future, Stan was much more blunt and straightforward: "Some brutal fighting; some serious, serious fighting like you haven't really seen before in any of the other films, which I'm really proud to say. And a whole lot of character and heart, because there's a lot of people that are in the film, but you're going to get a lot of character from everybody."
Hopefully, this means more practical stun work and less CGI too. After all, everyone agrees that was one of the best aspects of the first few acts in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
