What if the only people in the world with superpowers were those from royal bloodlines? That's the question that Vertigo's upcoming series The Royals: Masters of War asks. Written by Rob Williams with art by Simon Coleby, this one is described as an "epic of World War proportions." Here's Vertigo's official description:
"The year is 1940. As the Blitz destroys London and kills thousands, the Royal Family looks on. But in this world, the only people with special abilities are Royalty, and the purer the bloodline, the greater their abilities. So why don’t they stop the carnage with their powers? A truce between the Earth’s nobles has kept them out of our wars—until now. When England’s Prince Henry can take no more and intervenes, will it stop the planet’s suffering or take it to another level?"
Intrigued? Good! Because Vertigo also just unveiled some terrific preview images which you can see below. "Rob and I are both aviation enthusiasts. I thoroughly enjoyed rendering the various aircraft and vehicles of this WWII setting." said series artist Simon Coleby. "The story itself is filled with personal drama and intrigue, set against the backdrop of a world at war with itself. It's and amazing ride, which I feel sure our readers will enjoy."
The Royals: Masters of War hits shops on February 12, 2014.
