We've got everything you need to know about Marvel's Doctor Strange movie in one place.
The Doctor Strange movie is now in production. Make this article your one stop location for everything you need to know about the film. We'll update it with new information as it becomes available.
Doctor Strange Movie Cast
The cast list is as follows: Benedict Cumberbatch (Stephen Strange), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Mordo), Rachel McAdams, and Michael Stuhlbarg, with Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One). No official mention of Scott Adkins, who joined the cast recently in a small role.
You'll note, however, that they still haven't revealed all the details on who everyone is playing. There has been some speculation that Rachel McAdams is playing Clea, while Mads Mikkelsen is Dormammu, but the folks behind the scenes have been very cagey about revealing the nature of their roles. We know for sure that Mikkelsen is the film's big villain, but all Kevin Feige will reveal is that he's another magician who "breaks off into his own sect."
As for Rachel McAdams, this is still something of a headscratcher. “Rachel McAdams plays a fellow surgeon that has a history with Strange and is his sort of lynchpin to his old life, once he steps into he role of a sorcerer,” Kevin Feige told EW. “She is someone he connects with at the beginning, and reconnects with, and helps anchor his humanity.”
Even Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays the traditionally villainous Karl Mordo, is being careful about how he describes his character. “Oh, he’s a very complex character that, really, I don’t think can be nailed down either way, you know,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I guess it’s something to experience, is what I’d say.”
Doctor Strange Movie Plot
All we have is a really basic official synopsis:
Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
This is the first time I can remember seeing this Marvel Phase 3 mission statement, too:
Doctor Strange is the latest film in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 3’s goal—over the course of four years and nine films—is to introduce audiences to new heroes and continue the adventures of fan favorites.
