Bill Paxton will play Agent John Garrett for at least four episodes on Marvel's Agents of SHIELD
Agents of SHIELD is getting a needed injection of star power and grit with the addition of Bill Paxton for at least four episodes. Mr. Paxton will play Agent John Garrett, familiar to comic fans as a SHIELD agent who got turned into a cyborg in Frank Miller's Elektra: Assassin series. With Centipede currently turning folks into cyborgs left and right on the show, it might be safe to assume he's headed for the same fate.
"We wanted to bring in a rough-and-tumble former cohort of Agent Coulson with a little bit of attitude and cigar-smoking swagger," said executive producer Jed Whedon. "When Garrett got his promotion to Level 7, he refused to sit behind a desk and doesn't like the formalities of SHIELD. He's going to help Coulson solve some mysteries and is not afraid to rig an explosive or two."
Paxton is best known for his roles in Twister, Aliens, Apollo 13, and Titanic. He is also set to appear in Nightcrawler with Jake Gyllenhaal later this year, as well as Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise.
