NYC has long been the center of the Marvel Universe, and the upcoming Daredevil, Luke Cage, and other TV series will film here!
While this shouldn't be surprising, it's still nice to hear. New York City has always been as much a part of the Marvel Universe as the characters that inhabit it, and the upcoming street level superhero series from Netflix (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders) will film in the city that never sleeps. The deal, which will officially be announced by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Disney CEO Rober Iger, involves a number of tax incentives "valued at roughly $4 million"according to the Wall Street Journal.
Production will begin this summer, and it's unlikely we'll see any of the Netflix Marvel shows before 2016, but the prospects of five on-demand live-action Marvel superhero shows is almost too much for our hearts to handle. Not many details have emerged about any of the individual projects, but we do know that Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods, Lost) is the Daredevilshowrunner, and Melissa Rosenberg appears to be in charge of Jessica Jones, and that when all is said and done, we'll have almost 60 episodes of new Marvel programming. Daredevil will be the first show to hit, followed by Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and finally, the Defendersmini-series, teaming them all together!

These shows bring New York's super heroes home where they belong--along with hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in new business."

Our Marvel series for Netflix will inject millions directly into the local economy and create hundreds of new jobs."
