All 26 episodes of Green Lantern: The Animated Series will be released on Blu-ray on March 18th!
Green Lantern: The Animated Series is just one in a parade of "gone too soon" DC Comics animated offerings from Cartoon Network, that include Beware the Batmanand Young Justice. But fans of Green Lantern: The Animated Seriesat least have one more thing to look forward to: the release of Green Lantern: The Complete Animated Series from the Warner Archive Collection. All 26 episodes of Green Lantern: The Animated Serieswill be presented in the set, which releases on March 18th.
Some fans may have been thrown for a loop by Green Lantern: The Animated Series' completely CG approach, something which hadn't been associated with executive producer Bruce Timm at the time. But for those who watched all 26 episodes, Green Lantern: The Animated Serieswas quite rewarding, incorporating many of the recent additions to Green Lantern lore (like the multi-colored Lanterns) without getting too bogged down in the bits and pieces of the DC Universe. There were some genuinely stunning battle sequences, too! With a voice cast that included luminaries like Robert Englund, Ron Perlman, Clancy Brown, and Kurtwood Smith, the show was a pleasant surprise, and it's a shame we couldn't have seen another season.
Warner Archive appears to have become the home for many DC Comics projects like this, having recently released Beware the Batman and Batman: The Brave and the Boldon Blu-ray, as well. You can pre-order Green Lantern: The Complete Animated Seriesright here.
