The Batman '66 comic is going to expand on two of the show's most legendary episodes, the time Batman met the Green Hornet!

One of the most beloved parts of the 1966 BatmanTV series is the two-part Green Hornet crossover from season two, "A Piece of the Action" and "Batman's Satisfaction." While these episodes might have been cool enough if they featured just guest star (and Star Trek villain) Roger C. Carmel, the real treat is that it's the only time fans ever got to see Batman team up on screen in live-action with another superhero (although 2016's Batman vs. Superman movie will change all that). Adam West and Burt Ward's Batman and Robin met up with the Green Hornet (Van Williams) and Kato (Bruce Lee). When Batmanfinally gets its official home video release later this year, those who haven't experienced this will finally be able to. But until then...its comics to the rescue, with Batman '66 Meets the Green Hornet.

Batman '66 Meets the Green Hornet will be written by Kevin Smith (who needs no introduction) and KROQ radio personality Ralph Garman, with art by Ty Templeton (who has done some terrific work already on the Batman '66comic). "It's like getting to be 5 years old again and tell stories that you would have made up while watching the show as a kid,"Smith told USA Today."To be able to do it, man, it really does bring it full circle in a bucket-list kind of fashion."

The series is unique not only because of the obvious cool factor (and, let's face it, ANY excuse to have a comic book version of Bruce Lee kicking ass on the page is a good one), but because it marks the first DC Comics/Dynamite Entertainment crossover (Dynamite currently publish all Green Hornet related comics). I wonder if DC would consider a "New 52" version of Colonol Gumm that they could cross over with one of Dynamite's Green Hornet comics...or maybe not.

Batman '66 Meets the Green Hornetwill arrive digitally on May 21st, followed by a print release on June 4th. And dig that crazy Alex Ross cover!

There's much more from Smith and Garman over at USA Today!
