Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston have landed the lead roles in AMC's upcoming miniseries adaptation of John le Carré's The Night Manager.
The influx of big screen talent to the small screen continues in earnest today, as AMC has just announced a new limited series starring Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston, which will be based on a book by the bestselling author John le Carré.
After winning the bid to adapt The Night Manager, AMC has given a straight-to-series pick up on the miniseries event that will be panned by Hanna’s David Farr.
To be developed in partnership with the BBC, The Night Manager pulls from le Carré’s 1993 novel of the same name with its focus on a former British solider, named Chris Pine, as he works as a night auditor for a luxury hotel. There, he meets a French-Arab woman named Sophie, who is implicated in the black market weapons trade. After Sophie winds up dead, Pine goes undercover with the British intelligence to ensnare one insidiously named Richard Onslow Roper.
The news marks a major boon for AMC, which will be producing the series during a time where both Laurie and Hiddleston will be in the big screen spotlight for Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland and Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, respectively.
