Some fresh details about the Supergirl TV series coming to CBS have come to light, and they're fairly revealing...

It looks like there will be two female leads on the SupergirlTV series coming to CBS from Greg Berlanti (Arrow) and Ali Adler (Chuck).  These casting breakdowns for Kara and her foster sister are the first real picture we've had about what this show might be aiming for.

Here they are, by way of TV Line, who haven't ever steered us wrong:

Kara "Supergirl" Danvers:"Kara at age 12 was sent from her dying home planet of Krypton to Earth, where she was taken in by the Danvers, a foster family who taught her to be careful with her extraordinary powers. After repressing said skills for more than a decade, Kara is forced to bust out her super moves in public during an unexpected disaster. Energized by her heroism for the first time in her life, she begins embracing her abilities in the name of helping the people of her city, earning herself a super moniker along the way."

Alexandra "Alex" Danvers: "Kara’s gorgeous, brilliant, science-minded foster sister. Growing up, Alex was partly jealous of her sibling yet also fascinated by her abilities, prompting Alex to learn as much as she could about alien anthropology, sociology and culture. Today, Alex works for a secret government organization and, alongside her heroic sis, will face many challenges, both mundane and super."

OK, so, Krypton: check. What's more, it appears that the basics of Supergirl's story holds true to the early days of her comic book appearances, where she had to operate entirely in secret. It kind of sounds like she won't be wearing a costume, at least early on, but hopefully we see that iconic "S" crest sooner than later.

I wonder if the Alex/Lex similarities are accidental...maybe she's adopted, too?
