Gotham executive producer Danny Cannon reveals the Scarecrow and Jonathan Crane are coming to Fox's Gotham City.
The beauty of Batman’s rogues gallery is that it is large enough to populate a small village, which allows for plenty of cameos in Fox’s Batman prequel, Gotham. Already the network’s biggest fall hit, Gotham might ostensibly be Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) story, but it is made on the back of Gotham City’s many, many colorful faces before they went up against the bat—including the Scarecrow.
Zap2It is reporting that executive producer Danny Cannon has revealed Jonathan Crane, aka the Scarecrow, will be appearing in an upcoming episode of the hit series.
During a panel show at this weekend’s Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo, Cannon said, “We’re breaking the story now.” Zap2It further reports that Crane will actually be only a child in Gotham during his introduction. However, his father will have used the alias of “Scarecrow” as his nom de guerre before Crane even hits adolescence, thereby explaining where the fascination with straw stuffing comes from and also providing a familiar Batman foe for the series.
Of course, Scarecrow has appeared in Batman films, incidentally more than any other foe, as he was present in all three installments of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy, albeit only as cameos in the latter two films. In that series, the Scarecrow was played by Irish actor Cillian Murphy.
