Chyler Leigh and David Harewood will have pivotal roles on the CBS Supergirl TV series. More details here...
NewsAnd the cast of the CBS SupergirlTV series continues to expand. This time it's with Chyler Leigh (Grey's Anatomy) and David Harewood (Homeland).
Chyler Leigh is Alexandra "Alex" Danvers, described as Kara's "confident foster sister whose fascination with her sibling’s powers inspired her to become a doctor." Certainly the "Lex" and "Doctor" things are mere coincidences.
Perhaps more intriguing is David Harewood's character. He's playing Hank Henshaw, "a onetime CIA agent who now runs the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), which tracks extraterrestrial threats on the planet Earth."
It sounds like Henshaw can function as the gatekeeper for the show's villain of the week format, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him fulfill the mentor/adversary role that Harrison Wells has on The Flash. Whether he ever gets cybernetic parts and puts on a cape of his own remains to be seen.
Also worth noting, Glen Winter has been confirmed as the pilot's director and Andrew Kreisberg has joined up as executive producer and writer. Kreisberg is known for his work with Supergirlproducer Greg Berlanti over on Arrowand The Flash, and Winter is a veteran of those shows and Smallville, so this should have a pretty familiar tone.
The Supergirlpilot will shoot in March, and we should have more news on it soon. Expect it on the air in the fall. You can learn more about the show right here.
