Jenna Dewan Tatum is coming to CBS as Lucy Lane in the third episode of Supergirl!
NewsSuperman and Lois Lane may not (yet) be permitted to drop by CBS’ Supergirl for an extended visit, but nobody said anything about Kal-El’s sister-in-law. Yep, Lucy Lane is coming to the big city in the guise of Jenna Dewan Tatum of Step Up and Witches of East End fame.
While her husband just inked a deal to play Gambit in a solo film and presumably future X-Men movies, Ms. Dewan Tatum is headed to the DC universe of the small screen masterminded by Greg Berlanti. Lucy Lane is described in the press release as just as brash and outgoing as her older sister, but successful in her own right, not least of all because of her past relationship with James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks). Further, when she shows up in Kara Danvers’ life, we suspect it will only add more complications for both sides of the secret identity.
Lucy Lane, who has appeared on the small screen before via Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, hails from Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #36 from 1959. Initially created as a love interest for Jimmy by Otto Binder and Curt Swan, she has gone on from her humble flight attendant roots to fly in her own right as the latest iteration of Superwoman before the last Crisis or two undid all that a few years ago. We imagine that come presumable future seasons of Supergirl, she will fly again too.
