A new Marvel Infinite digital series will feature Cyclops's son and Wolverine's knockoff getting back together to fight over the future.
NewsComics have given us some great bromances over the years. Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Thor and Hercules. But one that led to a great series about ten years ago is Cable and Deadpool.
Once sworn enemies, the sage, gun-crazy mutant with the complicated backstory and the mentally-troubled, gun-crazy mutant(ish) with the complicated backstory gradually became great friends over the course of Fabian Nicieza’s Cable/Deadpool series. Then Cable “died” (snuck off into the future) and the series became all about Deadpool.
The two crossed paths a few times after that, but it was never the same. Other writers chose to simply have Cable act like he hated and distrusted Deadpool at all times. Now that Deadpool is about to get ready for his cinematic close-up and he has a bunch of new comics coming out in the post-Secret Wars world, it's about time for the two to get the band back together in a new digital series. Starting in October, Fabian Nicieza will be teaming up with Reilly Brown to give us Deadpool & Cable: Split Second.
Yes, that’s right, Deadpool gets top billing now. Eat it, Wild Man of Borneo!

Being that Cable has a thing about knowing the terrible future, he becomes aware that a certain person’s death will lead to a dark timeline. Naturally, Deadpool is the guy hired to make the kill. Now it’s time for triggers to be pulled as enemies-turned-friends-turned-enemies-turned-friends-turned-enemies go at it.
Nicieza is known as the co-creator of both characters, but Reilly Brown has had his hand in drawing them as well. Not only did he do the Marvel Infinite comic Deadpool: The Gauntlet a year or so ago, but he’s currently doing X-Men ’92, which features both characters as members of X-Force. This is a prime creative pairing.
Split Secondwill hit mobile devices this October. It’ll probably be weekly or bi-weekly.

Gavin Jasper is sad that in the X-Men films, Cable can never be played by the actor most perfect to play him: Leslie Nielsen on steroids. Follow Gavin on Twitter!
