Secret Wars is certainly screwing around with the Marvel status quo and Earth isn’t the only place getting the business. Off in space, Guardians of the Galaxy is going to start anew with a new lineup. With Peter Quill off the team for royalty reasons, Rocket Raccoon is now the leader and his new team now includes the likes of Groot, Drax, Venom, Kitty Pryde (Star-Lady), and Thing.

Seriously, if you told me five years ago that those six would be the Guardians roster, I’d call you insane. Hell, if you told me two years ago! Two of those characters couldn’t even be put in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and one is only allowed because of being on loan from Sony. Such a weird mixing of characters.

Anyway! We got a first look at the new series. It’s still written by Brian Michael Bendis and Valerio Schiti is on art. If you don’t know Schiti, he absolutely killed it on New Avengers and his art is one of the better assets of this run. Guy’s facial expression game is on another level.
